V. a malfunction in the monitoring function of the monitoring equipment itself.
d)A marker beacon shall have following performance, structure, etc.:
(。)It shall emit a vertical and directional radio frequency carrier which is amplitude modulated and produces a fun shaped emission pattern in space to indicate arrival at a pre-determined distance from the runway to an aircraft making a precision approach along an ILS course.
(「)The emissions from the marker beacon shall be horizontally polarized and the vertically polarized component of the emissions shall be as small as possible.
(」)The emission pattern shall be on the vertical axis.
(、)The horizontal field strength shall be symmetrical about the axis of the emission pattern.
(・)The antenna system shall be installed at the following locations:
I. For an outer marker: at a distance of between 6.5 kilometers and
11.1 kilometers (preferably not more than 7.2 kilometers) along the extended centerline of the approach end of the runway threshold; and not more than 75 meters distant from the extended centerline of the runway, measured at right angles.
II. For a middle marker: at a distance of between 900 meters and 1,200 meters along the extended centerline of the approach end of the runway threshold; and not more than 75 meters distant from the extended centerline of the runway, measured at right angles.
III. For an inner marker: at a distant of between 75 meters and 450 meters along the extended centerline or the approach end of the runway threshold; and not more than 30 meters distant from the extended centerline of the runway, measured at right angles.
(ヲ)The rated radiation coverage (the area within which the horizontal field strength emitted from the said facility on the glide path is more than 1.5 millivolts per meter, the same shall apply in (vii) below) shall be as follows.
I. For an outer marker: 400 to 800 meters
II. For a middle marker: 200 to 400 meters
III. For an inner marker: 100 to 200 meters
(ァ)The maximum value of the horizontal field strength of the radio frequency carrier within the rated emission coverage shall be more than 3.0 millivolts per meter.
(ィ)The modulation frequency shall be as follows, and the frequency tolerance shall not exceed 2.5 percent.
I. For an outer marker: 400 Hz
II. For a middle marker: 1,300 Hz
III. For an inner marker: 3,000 Hz
